Curtis 2008 Hunting Season

So it's that time of the year again. Curtis was really excited for the Deer hunt this year because he drew out for the paunsagaunt premium limited entry deer hunt. He has waited for a long time for this. Him and his brother both drew out together, so for one week in August I was alone home working. But Curtis knew how much I missed him and he was able to kill his deer and spike elk in the same day so he could come home and see me.

Curtis Deer scored 192, and he was a 32.5 inch wide 3 by 4. He is really happy about this deer and can't wait to hang it on the wall.

Curtis's dad also got a really good deer this year also. He drew out for the Alton CWMU. His deer was 10 by 11, 28.5 inches wide and it scored 196

Congratulation to Emily (my new sister-in-law) for her first kill. This really makes u part of the family now. she killed a fallow deer.

Also Congratulations to Greg for his biggest Deer ever also. He killed a 28 inch, 3 by 4, that scored 160

Here is a picture of Curtis' Spike Elk.

Help

So as you all can tell, my favorite hobby is to remodel my house or anything. I love looking up pictures and finding ideas for my next project. I have finished my up stairs bathroom but I am starting to plan the down starts bathroom and I a stuck on what tile I should use.

Here is the bathroom. I know it is scary. But it will be changing soon.

So here is what I have so far. I know that for sure I want this cabinet that I found at home depot.

and then also this medicine cabinet, that is also white, to place above the cabinet in the wall

I want to do Blue walls and I got this paint a few months ago but I think I might take it back to get the color a little darker.

So here are the two different tiles I am fighting over. The First I saw at a parade of home 2 years ago. I loved it when I first saw it

Here is the second tile I found, I found it while I was trying to find the first Tile. I like them both

So let me know what you think, or if you have any other ideas I would love to hear them.

House Update

So Sorry... it was been forever yet again. We have been working hard on the house and then outside in the yard. Since our last blog we have finished the framing the garage, roofed the house, installed windows and Door, plus the beautiful garage Door that I love and many other projects. Vinyl Siding has been delivered but finding the time around work, school and family to get this done has been a project within itself. Here is a quick update of pictures to catch everyone up.

Dyna

So this last week Dyna (Kyle and Carrie puppy) came over to play while they were out of town. She is cute but still a puppy. Tido really enjoyed having some one to play with. Dyna had to stay outside, which made me fell really bad because I think it rained everyday but she did really great.
Tido was also really funny this week. One night Curtis brought dinner home and Tido put his head in the wrapper of my hamburger. He got his head stuck and we just had to take a picture before taking it off.
And here he is sleeping next to his duck. He looks like he is trying to lay like the duck. Some times he sleeping in the funnest positions. I don't know how they would ever be comfortable.

Garden

So this has been my first year every doing a garden. Lesson learned is that it is way harder then it looks. I have ten times as many weeds as I do plants and no matter what I do I can't keep up with the weeds. Plus some plants just really don't like me and just seem to want to die. However I have learned some very good lesson so next year we should do a little better.

I love tomatoes, just ask my mom, they always would go missing at home. so of course my garden was going to have tomato plant and a lot of them. I first planted 25 tomatoes at the beginning of the season and all 25 died from some virus. So then I had to get 10 more because I wanted tomato's so mad and they have done really great until the last 2-3 weeks they have also started to die except I have 4 cherry tomato plants that are doing okay. They last few days the cherry tomato's have started to turn red. They will only make it off the plant to go straight into my mouth, never will they get to the kitchen.

My pumpkin plant has been doing great. I have about 10 pumpkins right now and they are getting bigger every day. I am really excited for this Halloween to use them.

My cucumber are doing okay. they seem to always be a fun shape but so far taste great.

Look at this dill. I really wanted to make pickle but I don't think I will get enough cucumber but we will have to see.

The onions had a slow start at the beginning but are starting to also improve.

Here is a golden Pepper, so far everything is still green but maybe soon it will be golden

The pea snaps have been my favorite to eat so far. We really should have planted more. They also only make it of the vine to be all gone within a few minutes.

We had a little battle with squash bugs over who would get to eat the squash but we have won so far. They still are small but also getting big fast.

Our Corn plants has only gotten about 2 feet tall but the corn is growing so we will see how big they really are going to get.

And last but not least another favorite of mine, carrots. Our carrots are also doing great. Not all of them look this straight and perfect but they all taste great.

So this is trial number 1 and we will have to see what next year is going to bring. If anyone has some great ways to keep my tomato's alive I would love to know. Thanks

Thanks to everyone that has helped so far and to everyone that will be helping in the future. Thanks

Up Stair Bathroom.

A long time ago I striped the up stairs bathroom of everything but the bath tub. Me and My dad replaced the old floor because the toilet was leaking. It has been a few months, okay 8 months but I am finally done putting everything back together. I have replaced the floor and re-mudded the walls and textured them also. I painted the walls and replaced the floor with tile. Sorry Jennifer I forgot to take pictures before I started.

Here is the first picture that I have of the project. Curtis took it when I first started painting the walls. this was after I took out all of the floor and replace it and also mudded and retextured the walls.

I tiled the bathroom on my own. I really wanted to try this brick layout pattern. I love how it turned out but it took forever. I started at 10 one night and ended at 4 in the morning. Don't Worry Curtis was out of town so I was really bored and night is always when I do my best work.

I have been searching forever for a vanity to replace the old one. I didn't want anything big but I want it to good nice. I searched forever and everything I found was over 300-400 dollars. I finally was ready to give in and then I went to St. George to go shopping with my best friend Tiffany and we found this vanity at TJ Max for 150 dollars. I was way happy and don't worry we brought it home in the back seat of her Mustang. Thanks Tiffany for letting me put in it your amazing car.
While here is the finally picture. The Door is back on. there is a working toilet and faucet with a new floor and paint job. I loved how it turned out. I was able to do all the work myself except replacing the Floor and putting the toilet back together (Thanks Dad). It looks way better in persons.

Fishing with Sydney

Thanks Sydney we will have to go fishing again soon.

Garage

So this last month we have started a big new projected at our house. We love the house that we bought last year but one thing that we have really learned is that we have no storage in this house. So we decided that a garage with a mud room off the back would be a great addition to the house, it will also be one long process. So far we have had all the excavation work done and the footings with stem walls poured. This week we are getting ready for the flat work to be done and then we can start framing the walls.

Here is a picture of the tree roots and stump being pulled out of the ground. I have to say I was happy to see it go. There was no other way to get it out of the ground without the track hoe. Sorry the picture is token through the screen on the window.
They also cleaned up the backyard. Removed clothes lines, cement, rocks, and prepared for the footings.

We also have the footing and the stem walls all poured with the dirt back filled and almost ready for the flat work
It already has been alot of work and we just started but it is really going to be nice when it is all done.
